I have just published the letter Alana received from our
Commision Chairman, with a few comments in brackets to
highlight some things.
We have a new winner!!!!! I have just received the incident report forms from
the last two events and on behalf of the commission and MSA congratulate WPATV and Alana Geerdts(and her team of helpers), but also Clint for winning the coveted "Event Of The Year" for 2009 for Senior Off-
Road races. This is an amazing achievement (and I
must point out, that Dirk Schwenke was responsible
for the track, and he did a fantastic job, he was
helped by lots of helpers, but without Clive and Kevin Crouse, Russel and Travis Zeeman,Mark Popham, Pedro Cutino, Gideon/Anton/Ockert and his team,
and especially Clint/TimJ and Rossouw, without all of
them we would not have had such a successful day.) I confess that I thought Mafikeng had it in the bag.
Also, well done Peet for exceeding 80%yet again!
Well done to the Capies for a brilliant event and I
trust this somehow compensates you guys for not being in the Currie Cup final!(This in no way compensates, we were the better team on the day, Morne Steyn is
unfortunately the new "Naas", a anti-hero when he
plays against WP, but our hero when he plays for the Boks.) Let me recap and give you the scores for all the
National Senior Off-Road events for 2009, in order
from highest to lowest: 1. Koue Bokkeveld 400 - 81.46%.
2. Mafikeng - 81.15%.
3. Ermelo - 80.87%.
4. Timberland - 80.82%.
5. Caledon - 80.50%.
6. Lesotho - 50.50%. I want to thank all those organisers scoring in
excess of 80% for a job well done. Frankly, I think it proves that we have significantly raised
organisational standards on all events (Peter, I have no doubt that you will be a significant contender in
2010) and frankly, Ceres deserves to win, not only
for their wonderful score, but because the Incident
Report Forms are handed in prior to Prize Giving. They would have won by a landslide had the Prize
Giving also been taken into consideration, because
they were the ONLY event that was on time with their
results.(in fact it was ready at 17h30)(Thanks to Geoff Kelly as COC, and his jury team, we had no protests, hence the results were out early)
We need to raise the standards another couple of
percentage points and have to solve the
timing/scoring / prize giving situation for 2010, but I have full confidence that we will do so.

Insofar as Enduros are concerned, we are also now able to declare an overall winner, but it saddens me that Winterberg and Champagne Valley could not be
rated because they used the wrong incident report forms.
Nevertheless, it will be extremely unfair not to make an award for Enduros this year, which would effectively penalise those that did use the correct forms and ran fantastic events. Hell, the Capies came damn close to winning this as well, (that is if the Eastern Cape guys are not also Capies!) and it is my pleasure to declare the "Enduro Event Of The Year" to be the KEI Enduro with and overall rating of 81.2%. Montagu came very close with 80.8% and Lesotho again, a very low 40.82%, which I am sure Peter will also rectify for 2010. Winterburg and Champagne Castle may very well have been
significant contenders, but that is water under the
bridge. I have no doubt that the competition will be very fierce next year. Well done Shaun and your team for this fantastic achievement which you can be truly proud of. I trust the Koue Bokkeveld 400 and Kei Enduro will use this major award to the maximum when pre-
marketing and marketing their 2010 events, so
that they can get their entries up significantly. Kind Regards
Jimmy
